InThisSection is an international project founded in 2004 by Juschka Weigel and Miguel Muñoz. The process of choreographic work of the company is always characterised by the collaboration between artists with different trajectories and professional activities that work in relation to a concrete subject, being involved in the different situations that a production implicates. The phases of production and investigation are generally intermingled, questioning themselves mutually until the moment of the representation itself. This dynamics provokes the process of doubt, but, at the moment, it’s well thus. We take this instability to move to and to give the possibility of placing the process of creations (its reflections and representations) on a scene, like a self-critical practice. It is only dance that takes a critical point of view of itself. The methods of the choreographic work are not related directly to the form, but to the different parameters of tension. Alongn these lines, we do not make difference between the parameters of tension of speaking, or running, or the tension necessary to listen to a song. Finally, one does not talk about solely the body, but to the movements, and that means to consider the question: how to move? How to turn the pages of a book, how to watch outside, how to make a joke, how to represent all this. According to this principle, dance is the movement of thinking. .................................................................................................................................................... How´s this for a start to your day? >>> .....................................................................................................................................................
Juschka Weigel starts her studies of dance at ‘Colombo Dance School’, in Zürich. After she finished successfully her three-year course, she received a six-month scholarship for ‘Merce Cunningham School’, in New York, accomplishing her basic dance education. After this period she received another scholarship for the ‘Academy of Art’, in Solo/ Indonesia. Since 1999 she studies Indian traditional music with master Pandit Sankha Chatterjee. In Germany she co-founds the dance company ‘Verwandlungsamt’, under the direction of Butoh master Anzu Furukawa. At the same time she learns the movement method ‘Dharma Body Work’ (DBW), directed by Mikki Bleidner and Peter Laros. After investigating the synergy between dance, butoh and body work with Josef Kiss (1997-2000), they release their first work in collaboration, ‘How is this for a start to your day?’, a dance solo, first performed in the 5th International Festival for Solo Dance of Stuttgart, where she received the 2nd Prize for Choreography and the Special Prize of the Public. This piece gained the 1st Prize at the 7MASDANZA, International Dance Festival of Maspalomas, Canary Islands (Spain), in 2002. During this period she creates successful individual and collective choreographies for stage, film and multimedia productions. She works with different choreographers in Germany, Belgium, Spain, Austria and Sweden. After one year of continuous collaborations with Miguel Muñoz, they create InThisSection – juschkaWeigel in 2005; the première of the company’s first solo work, ‘FREQUENCY – I’ (2005) takes place at En Pé de Pedra International Dance Festival (Santiago de Compostela). ‘frequency – B’ (2006) was released at Theater im Depot, Dortmund. These two pieces have succesfully toured around Spain and Europe (Festival de Otoño – Madrid; Dansens Hus – Stockholm; Mes de Danza – Sevilla; etc.) The company releases its first group choreography: ‘the postpianoman surrender ’ in december 2007. This project was awarded with the 7è Premi d’Arts Escèniques de Lleida, and was co-produced with Mercat de les Flors (Barcelona) with the support of ‘IDEE – Initiatives in Dance through European Exchange'. ..................................................................................................................................................... miguel muñoz After different experiences as an actor and dancer, miguel muñoz gets into the field of technic by chance.
